Who Are Ya?

Each week, one of our contributors will recommend an artist/band they think deserves to be brought to your attention. No record labels, PR companies, bands or bands management will ever have made these recommendations, It is simply one music fan putting their taste on the line in the hope of sharing good music.

This feature is by no way meant to be an interview, it is just a basic introduction to the recommended band/act/artist.

This week, CityLifer’s editor Simon Poole recommends The Lovely Eggs.

Who are ya?

The Lovely Eggs. We are David and Holly. We are a small drumkit and a Big Muff.

We live in Lancaster in a hut with a walnut on the top. David plays the drums and Holly plays guitar. David sings a bit and Holly also sings. We have been compared to almost every other band with two people in. We are nothing like any of them.

Where are you from?

Lancaster and a bit of Morecambe

How long have you been doing what you’re doing now?

Do you have a click wheel? Cos if you did it would measure 4 years.

Is being a musician your full time job? If not, what is?

We both scab about a bit aside from mooching doing music. Holly is a writer and David is the co-pilot of Lancaster Musicians’ Co-op (a non profit making recording studio and rehearsal rooms)

How would you explain your sound to someone’s 90 year old grandmother?

Like a chip shop on fire.

Are there any obvious influences in your music?

Watermelons and Richard Brautigan.

Are there any not so obvious influences in your music?

Death and the forgotten works

Best place for people to find out what you are up to?

www.myspace.com/thelovelyeggs for music & www.twitter.com/thelovelyeggs for goings on

Anything to declare?

People are TWATS!
