Latitude Festival 2010 – Headliners Announced

This year’s Latitude Festival is shaping up nicely, thankyouverymuch, with the headliners for the 5th instalment having just been announced.

Florence & The Machine top the bill on Friday 16th July, Belle And Sebastian will set a field of curduroy all a-flutter on Saturday 17th, while the whole shebang will be brought to a close on Sunday 18th by Vampire Weekend, who according to the press release, are a “literate New York quartet”. CityLifers think it’d be more remarkable if they were four illiterate urchins sent out into the world to scrimp a living from their quirky-jerky pop, but what do we know, eh?

The festival will once again be held at the Henham Park Estate in Suffolk, with the satellite stages featuring everything from book readings to opera, an outstanding comedy line-up (Emo Philips, Ardal O’Hanlon, Rich Hall, Tommy Tiernan…) and something called The School Of Life, which promises to be a “a convenience store of concepts”, and not something grizzled pub-based wits bang on about when they think they’ve spied a couple of students on “their” pool table.

Weekend tickets are a snip at £155, day tickets £65, and they’re on sale now. Go get ’em.
