‘Belle & Sebastian To Make Pilgrimage To Manchester Mecca Of All Things Soul + Free Entry For Two Lucky CityLifers Readers’

Manchester’s The Beat Boutique have announced an appearance from Scottish Indie-pop icons Belle & Sebastian on Friday 29th April.

With stints at venues around the city, The Beat Boutique now present a party at the Deaf Institute on the last Friday of each month with Resident DJ’s spinning 45’s of rare soul and funk to ska, Motown and pysch to a throng of appreciative followers.

Kicking off 2011 with a sold out night featuring Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess and a special two floor event to celebrate their 3rd anniversary in February, they are keeping the standard high this spring as they announce this appearance from Belle and Sebastian.

Founding member and keyboardist Chris Geddes pops his head out from amongst the melee of their European tour with his very own collection of rare soul gems and more besides. Chris had this to say of his Manchester DJ debut: “Manchester has been the centre of so many things musically over the years and it’s great to see such an original night that brings this type of music home. I’m really looking forward to playing at The Beat Boutique, seeing what it’s all about and adding to the blend with a few tunes of my own. I’ve even booked a day’s record shopping into the trip!’’

Chris will be joined on the night by Boutique residents Liam (Dr Q) Quinn, Paul B and Anya Proud together with DJ’s Goff and Macca playing their trademark psych, R n’ B and garage sounds on the ground floor.

For a chance to grab a pair of free tickets to this event, all you need to do is send an e-mail to beat.boutique@hotmail.com with the subject ‘CityLifers’. The winner of the tickets will be announced the weekend of the 23rd/24th!

Tickets are also available for sale online from wegottickets and from The Deaf Institute bar.
